looks like the health problems have already started...i have been diagnosed with disease called Vasuclitus (i think thats the spelling) where your immune system attacks itself, just come off steriods for it (which didn't help with the sleep).....

anyway i need to stop typing and try and get to bed

Hi. I'm not suffering from insomnia, but it's inevitable to me due to my character. I am too passionate with stuff.

Plus my bio-clock is out of sync with the rest of the world.

Recently I realized:

I normally go to bed when I am too tired to fall asleep(overtired).

When I am tired @ a normal level, mostly it's because I've been having a good time. Otherwise I would have been feeling bored.

When I feel bored I try to find sth to amuse myself. Which is eventually tiring. So, I need to start having phun @ bed, then get my strength fall to the point when sleep comes natural. No movie, no music, no internet.

Only books work for me.

Oh my gosh yes! I have only had insomnia for just over a month now but yes I haven't been able to fall asleep until like 5 or later and am waking up just 2 or 3 hours later and can not fall asleep. What do you do when this happens?

I drink a cup or two of chamomile tea to try to relax and that has been helping me get almost 4 hours of sleep every once in a while other than that um I don't know if you have racing thoughts or anything which could be keeping you up but if you do, writing them down may help. Also reading a really boring history book sometimes helps make me tire. But anyway, sometimes exercise especially if it is toward the end of the day can actually keep you up longer. I hope this helps.

I know exactly what you mean. This happens to me almost every night. Even when i do manage to fall asleep for more time, its not quality sleep because of all the waking up

Yep. Thats my type of insomnia. - but I have learned to stay in bed and rest, even if i don't sleep. When I get really frustrated and anxious i do a type of tappping thing where you tap away all the anxieties .Can't remember what it is called .... not EFT but something similar. It has taken the place of valium and allows me to stay in bed longer. At first I just rested, but now I sometimes sleep as well. In fact, i am beginning to sleep a bit more - very gradually - Usually manage up to 4 hours a night now. - a huge improvement from what it was 10 months ago where I went for days in a row without sleep.

I usually only sleep for 3 hours at a time =/ So That's not so unusual.

It's 2:00 and I shouldn't be up. But I can't sleep, and what else do I have to do this early but talk with my fellow insomniacs =]

Well at least you were having a good time.

Well, I get it...
I usually sleep at 1 am, then wake up at 3am..go back to sleep at 4am then wake up at 6:30am.
Kind of like a mix of middle-of-the-night insomnia and terminal insomnia.
It's been like that since I was a college freshman [a junior now].
